As far as economic indicators are concerned, my little website has never been accused of causing a ripple of concern or enthusiasm on Wall Street. No one there knows that I exist or likely ever will. But I’d like to send a message to the “Masters of the Universe” that, according to the activity at House Plans Central, there is a pulse in the housing sector and thus, in the economy overall…in Australia!

Yes, that’s right, according to an analysis of my traffic patterns the folks “Down Under” are enthusiastic about building new homes and are actively searching for new house plans online. And they have found me! Sometime in March my traffic increase rather dramatically and I was perplexed about the sources of the new visitors. No matter how deep I dug, I could not seem to locate the people who were visiting my site looking for “beach house plans,” beach house designs,” and “country house plans.”

Yesterday, I was clicking through my Google Analytics data and clicked on Map Overlay. According to the color coding, my primary sources of traffic are the United States and Australia. Mousing over the image of Australia I was astounded that 75% of the traffic was coming from the home of kangaroos and koalas.  Well, that explains the interest in beach house plans since I think that 90% of the population of Australia lives within walking distance of the ocean (or something like that).

Well, for some reason, I am showing up on Google Australia at #3 for the term “new house plans” which is precisely the term I optimized for. I always new that I had something in common with the rugged and adventurous Aussies! Now all I have to do is make the same type of connection with this American audience.

So come on America. Take a hint from your Australian cousins. New houses must be built. And new house plans must be bought. And they must be bought at House Plans Central. (He Google, are you listening?)
